Over to Mohali

Master blaster Tendulkar, like archer Arjuna
On the battlefield of Kurukshetra, flashes his bat
Here and there stand Viru, Dhoni, Yuvi, Raina
Ashwin, Gambir, Zaheer, Manaf, baaji, and Virat;
Loud clappings and cheers with jai ho are heard far and near
India meet Pakistan is the news item on every scroll bar

Soon a chariot comes in with no visible figure
Entire team convenes in front of it for an exhortation
My dear team mates, it says, your collective vigour
In every department helped reach this semi final session;
Fantastic fielding, fine length of bowling and wise batting-
India proved to be unbeatable even for the professional Aussies
Nevertheless, a psychological warfare unnecessarily is gripping
All of you; remember, you are on the cricket ground with no war of nerves,
Line behind me, I am known as CONFIDENCE, the real charioteer for winner

Comments:
Dear Sir: A wonderful Pre-Mohali treat! Savoured it to the last word. The battle of Kurukshetra and the charioteer CONFIDENCE are simply superb. A beautiful sixer from your poetic bat. Hats off to you.

I am no cricketer nor much of a fan, but still enjoy the vigor of the poem and its confidence inspiring tenor.

Dear Prem ji, a lovely CONFIDENCE Booster Dose for our Men In Blue ! Your poem is perhaps the first one posted on this forum, with its first letters of each line in Indian tri-colours. C-o-o-l ! May the Best Team win and India is the BEST !

Again Cricket

My Sri Lankan colleagues
were happy
As we won the last match
with West Indies
normally, whenever we won
they would show their cheeks
like inflated balloons
but this time their happiness
really wondered me
and I asked them about the reason
they told me:
“we are lucky,
no match between India and Sri Lanka
on our land”
I intervened:
“Suppose, we lost to West Indies
and quarter final with you on your crease,
what will happen?”
“If the match becomes crucial,
you people will start praying
for a climatic change,
for that matter, a heavy downpour”
“so what?”
“ so what? A billion people’s collective prayers
cannot be ignored even by God,
your team will return home
accusing the torrential rain
but your face saving effort
will ultimately push our country
already prone to natural calamities
to a further calamitous disaster…”

Comments:

Cricket is a lovely pass time, to some it is a novel unfolding climaxes and anticlimaxes, to some it is another money-churning game by betting, still to some other it is puff of Havana cigar... its glorious uncertainties make it more glorious!

Cricket news

Batsman stood before the wicket

and soliloquized:

“Boost is my secret”

Bowler bowled the middle stump

and said himself:

“Practice is my secret”

Leaving the crease

the batsman looked at the sky

and asked:

“God, this is too much,

I offered puja before the match”

God replied:

“son, that is accounted

and displayed on the divine board,

but play well and take runs

to display on the scoreboard”

The last batsman came in

and ran fast between the wickets

but the fielder hit the leg stump,

umpire was skeptical and referred

to third umpire for decision

after waiting for a long time

the umpire called him again

but the third umpire shouted back:

“Wait yaar,

Shakeel bhai’s line is still busy”

“who is that?”

“Match fixer”

Bhaarat Mom

As the Thretha and Dwapara yugas
Dissolved in the cine frames
The ten-headed Ravana
Took over Ayodhya
He called all Asuras
To sit in the upper house
Making Judas Iscariot
The head of the house
He called all Kauravas
To sit in the lower house
Making the notorious Brutus
The head of the house
He invited Ad-Dajjaal
To take care of the exchequer
So that Dajjal could lick
The exchequer like smoke Mountains

“What was left?” he asked
“Some regional leaders” the houses replied
“Let them represent the Sakuni”
“Some communal leaders?”
“Drutharashtra will lead them”
“What about the principled leaders?”
“They are the luckiest lot
Who will be accommodated
On the bed of arrows
Along with none other than
The Bheeshma pitha mahan”

I fell off the bed
My Bharat mom came in soon
Took the jar of water
And sprinkled on my face
I woke up.
“What happened?” she asked me
I detailed my dream
“Is it a dream? It is not a nightmare either,
If a beautiful nation is gripped by
All such evil forces, I can cry only for Rama”
“He is in the forest mom”
“Krishna…”
“He is in Delhi
Where Draupadi is stripped off
Every fourteen minutes…”
(And his chariot has been hijacked)

As she took a handful of water
From the jar and about to leave
I wondered and asked
“where are you going, mom?”
“to wake them up”
“who?”
“Those who vote and sleep,
Those who do not pretend to be asleep:
The people of India”

Daughter

Daughter… dear daughter… my dear daughter

A father cried dropping his tears in the water

Umbrella, Tiffin box and fountain pen

Gushed away with her drawing crayon

High school gate and cycle wheel

Together made a trip in gale

Easy, she is at home, someone told him to console

Repeated himself: “at home? Where is it as a whole…”?

Tsunami

Tower of waves

Swallowed many dreams though,

Unscheduled calamity itself

Now affiliates to nature’s university

All lessons included in the syllabus of tomorrows

May help us overcome the forthcoming sorrows

It is the same nature that teaches man’s fighting spirit…

Kaikei and Dasharath

King Dasharath
Was on the ventilator
In the intensive care unit

Kausalya waited
At the door
With Kaikei planning
To materialize the old promises

For both,
Visitor’s time was
Of great importance

Ward nurse showed up her head
Through the gap
Of the half-opened door

Manthara walked over to her
Whispered,
Put something
Into her overcoat pocket,
And returned
So the visitors time
Was well reserved for Kaike

Kaikei entered
Sat nearby the King
And stretched her two fingers
Figuring number 2,
But, the King misunderstood it
To be the shape of V
And soliloquized:
“V stands for victory,
It means I have been in recovery”
He returned her gesture
With a good smile

No sooner did Kaikei realize
That the King did not get her point
Than she became Mohd. Rafi:
Jo vaada kiya to nibhaana padega…

The King slowly
Took a slip
From the pillow cover
And handed it over to Kaikei
The slip read:
“First ask your elected leaders
To fulfil their promises,
Mine would come later….”

Since the spare ventilator
Was not immediately available,
Kaikei was shifted to AIIMS….

Comments:
Jokes apart, Prem ji, Kaikei in real life, besides being extremely pretty, was very fond of Rama. Nice twists such as this makes great reading. And why on earth, Prem ji, you are not visiting Muse India all these days? Best regards,

Dear Prem ji, a delightful modern touch to the old mythological katha ! Incidentally, AIIMS doctors happen to be on strike and this is what the legal luminaries said :The Delhi high court (HC) ruled on Monday (21st Feb) that doctors can’t go on strikes as that would violate ailing citizens’ right to life. The judgment came on a petition filed by SC/ST Medical Association in 2006 seeking action against All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) doctors, who struck work for 17 days and refused to attend to a large number of patients coming from different parts of the country. The medicos were against reservation for other backward castes (OBCs).HC said health was the basic requirement for “preservation of body — the human frame which is manifestation of life that is seen”.“It should be borne in mind that life is a glorious gift from god,” a bench of chief justice Dipak Misra and justice Sanjiv Khanna observed. ..." I wonder what ultimately happened ! Was Kayikeyi shifted to another hospital ? Was a spare ventilator available there ? I wonder if there were reservations for OBCs etc in King Dashratha's rajya ? Do solve these mysteries !!Thanks !!

LOKSABHA Samastha Sukino Bhavanthu

http://museindia.com/viewrep2.asp?id=31129

Why is corruption on the rise?
Aam aadmi chants:
“Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu…”
(May happiness be unto the world)
But some netas and babus sing in chorus:
“Loksabha Samatha Sukino Bhavanthu…”

(Let all in the LOKSABHA live in prosperity)

I asked someone at Swiss Bank:
We are such a good people that
We always chant: Loka samastha sukhino bhavanthu…
(May happiness be unto the world)
He told me with pride:
“Some of your leaders are also so good
That they siphon out the money for everyone in the world”

One day number 1 asked the zeroes:
“Could you back me as alliance?”
The zeroes joined and stood in the LEFT
Years later the number 1 groused:
“Since you are always on the left side
You remain as zeroes and I remain as 1
(0000000000001)
You just shift to the right and see the magic”
The moment Zeroes defected to the right,
Number 1 became billions
And zeroes became its partners
(10000000000000)

An exact depiction of our democracy and the leaders! But how can we escape from this mire?
